Exceptions for special measures
Discrimination that helps or assists people with disability is not against the law. This is sometimes called positive discrimination. For example, a school that gets a grant for a program specifically designed to help students with intellectual disability will not be discriminating if it refuses to provide the same funding for a person with a physical disability.
Exceptions for Court Orders and special laws
Court orders and some other special laws can allow discrimination. These special laws are called 'prescribed laws'. If a person follows a prescribed law or a court order when they are doing something, they will not be breaking discrimination laws. The Government has to tell the public what laws are prescribed laws. Currently there are not many prescribed laws.
